historic renovation / adaptive reuse / workplace
Work completed with OZ Architecture
Historic 9-story building built in 1907 out of concrete, it was the first west of the Mississippi River and was known as the Ideal Cement Company, then Denver National Bank, and now The Vault. Scope of work was broken out into 3 phases: Floors 6,7,8 & 9 with minor renovations, Floor 3 & 4 with space revisions, and Floor 1 & 2 complete build-out(25,000 SF). Treating the interior if the building as though it was historic to preserve as much of it’s past, all new elements were designed to be of this time to provide the contrast between 1907 and 2022.
Floor 1 & 2 involved relocating the lobby back to the middle of the building. Adding a communicating grand stair between floors 1 & 2 to allow the bank hall direct access to the open walkway above. All new mechanical duct routing, electrical upgrades, all new lighting, added restrooms, sculpture installation to elevators, elevator cab upgrades, & FF&E for the lobby.
As the project manager/architect, coordinated directly with ownership, owners representative, contractor, consultants, city and internal team to take the design from concept to built-reality. Was responsible for all coordination, schedule, meetings, proposal revisions, city coordination, custom detailing, quality control, permitting, and Historic Denver coordination.
